A little freebie for our friends!

Janet and I recently ran a workshop teaching a few resist techniques and thought it was such a pretty project, we'd like to share it as a special pressie for those of you who have supported us over the years and as a reminder for the fab folk who joined us at the workshop.
The cards were made all using different resist techniques then were presented in a half front box to give as a gift. I always give a nicely presented box of cards to my family for Christmas and they make lovely stocking fillers, least ways they have never complained yet!

This card was made by sponging gesso onto a butterfly stamp then stamping it randomly onto the card and leaving to dry.
When dry I just inked it with a brush using adirondack Inks. On this card I used Peach Bellini, Aqua, Raspberry and a touch of Sunshine Yellow.

This card was made by first Stamping the text with versamark and embossing with clear embossing powder, before inking again with the Adirondack inks. The embossing powder was then removed by placing a kitchen towel or grease proof paper over the image and ironing with a moderately hot iron.
A few stamped swirls and butterflies finished off the layered look.

The background for this card was made in the same way as the previous card with the topper created again with embossing.

This time an inverted image (one where the background is not stamped and the main image is silhouette, basically a negative image) is stamped and embossed not patterned paper and then inked well with a sponge applicator, to obscure the pattern on the paper. For this card we used a hero arts stamp.

This card was made by stamping the images onto semi gloss card with versamark and then brayering kaliedocolour ink over the whole card. The bouquet set of colours match the Adirondack perfectly don't you think?

Now for the box!

Cut a sheet of card 10 x 12 inches and turn landscape way.
Score at 1" , 2", 8", 9" and 11.5".
Turn portrait and score at 1" and 2" from each edge

Cut as shown and make all the folds, creasing with a bone folder.
Stick down the 1/2" flap using a wet glue, then ignore this flap of the box for a moment.

Stick the tabs in place as you would for an ordinary box.

Then fold over and adhere the three 1" flaps as shown.

The remaining part of the box is then stuck in place to give a short top with space enough to slip the cards into the box. Cut a mat of 2 1/4 x 5 3/4" in white card and another piece of card 2 x 5 1/2 to stamp with gesso and ink up as in the first card. Decorate with ribbon and a butterfly to finish you gift card set.

Tea Cup Candle and Gift Box Tutorial

Teacup Candle and Box

1. Measure the width of your saucer

2. And the height to the rim of the cup

In this case the width was 13cm and the height of the cup was 8cm

3. Cut two pieces of card 8 + 13 + 8 = 29cm square

Score at 8 cm from each side of both pieces.

Box Top

4. Cut out about 1mm along the score line on two sides up to the score line on both pieces of card

5. Position the largest labels 8 die 4.5cm above the bottom of the card.

Keep in place with low tack tape.

6. Place a piece of card over the die (to reduce impression of die on side flaps) and fold the flaps of the box over it so that the card will fit through your cutting machine. Cut with the flaps on the top.

7. Emboss around the outside of the die with a ball tool.

8. Cut a piece of acetate large enough to fit over the aperture.

Adhere the acetate with DS tape and score the acetate in the same position as the score line on the card.

Box Bottom

9. Place the card so that the cut flaps are towards you.

Fold the two side flaps away from you along the score line and glue in place.

Score the remaining flap 4cm from the edge and fold down towards the box. Glue this in place

10. Turn the box so that the opposite side is facing you and trim off the two side flaps at the score line

spread the remaining flap with pva glue

11. Adhere this flap to the corresponding flap on the box top.

12. Make up the box as shown above so that it looks like a cake box.

Stick with pva glue as this will strengthen the box.

Breath a huge sigh of relief when the cup and saucer fits! then decorate
